19th century pair of Baroque style silver plated candlesticks, probably continental, with circular bases and round columns, decorated with grape and vine gadrooning. Both have removable bobeches (candle wax drip trays). There is green felt on the bases. Inside the top of one column is a maker’s mark of a duck shape, but as yet, not identified.
(Any dark marks are just shadow reflections when taking the photos).
Age: 19th century
Condition: One column is slightly shorter than the other, but not very noticeable, and can be adjusted by raising the bobeche slightly on the shorter one. The candlesticks retain a good level of silver plate for their age. There are some small minor dents around the base edge. Some wear to the patterned gadrooning on the bases through polishing – which actually shows how thick the silver plate is, as no base metal is showing through.
