ANTIQUE CARVED STONE / PEBBLE
An unusual ancient carved stone depicting a human face. The piece is weathered and there is no evidence of tool marks under close examination, suggesting that the carving has considerable age.
The features may indicate that it is possibly from the Island of Java.
Looking at the piece under magnification there seems to be remnants of a red pigment around the eye sockets & maybe lips and there appears to be a similar coloured cross shape on the rear.
Date: unknown.
Condition. Good condition with no damage although weathered.
