BRASS WINDOW FURNITURE BY GIBBONS ~ £960
A high quality set of 24 antique brass casement window stays by Gibbons of Wolverhampton comprising of the following:
24 x casement stays with monkey tail design.
24 x face-fix to frame stay pins (not top fix or cranked)
24 x face-fix to frame stay rests (not top fix)
Ideal for a heritage project or period property restoration. Rare to find in this quantity and quality. The fittings were reclaimed together. The stays are stamped Gibbons of Wolverhampton. They were reclaimed along with 24 lovely casement fasteners (handles) which I have listed separately. They are well engineered and of good weight. New brass screws are included.
Please read the following helpful information regarding installation and suitability and/or consult your carpenter, installer or heritage fenestration expert.
Stays: the stays are ideal for casement windows, however if the windows are flush (level with the frame internally) then the stay pins will need to be replaced with cranked stay pins to offset the projection.
Pins: the pins are designed to be face fixed to the frame, not on top of the frame (see pictures) but will not be suitable if the casement window is flush with the frame internally.
Stay rests: the rests (like the pins) are designed to be face fixed to the frame, not on top of the frame (see pictures). Both the pins and rests could be rebated for a neater finish.
Date: early 20th Century circa 1920.
Condition. Functional condition in the format described in the installation notes above. The fittings have been sensitively but not overly cleaned by hand, although a small amount of tarnish remains. Some of the stay arms are a little bent. New brass screws are included.
