SOLID SILVER PLAQUE
An unusual silver plaque of oval form depicting a festive scene, by the silversmith brothers: J.H Roelfsema of Winsum, Groningen.
Of Dutch origin, this cast plaque features, in superb detail, a festive (probably nuptial) dining scene with a group, including an amorous couple, sat around a feasting table, surrounded by attendants and musicians. The scene is largely framed by a winged cherub or angel with a scrolling border forming a cartouche.
The plaque is stamped with the mark of the Roelfsema brothers (R6) and the sword stamp mark indicating a minimum fineness of 833/1000.
Date: 19th Century
Condition: Very good condition. Recently cleaned with a little tarnish left in the crevices.
