VICTORIAN PRATTWARE POT LID – Uncle Toby
A delightful Victorian Prattware earthenware pot lid, transfer printed with a picture entitled Uncle Toby. (A rendition of ‘Uncle Toby and The Widow Wadman’ by Charles R. Leslie, 1829, on display in the Tate Gallery. It was an illustration for an edition of Laurence Sterne’s book ‘The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman’, first published in 1760.) The pot lid has been framed in a circular wood frame which has been painted black. There is a hanging loop at the back of the frame.
Condition: Very good, no chips, crazing to glaze.
