L.S Mayer, originally a German company founded in the 19th Century, was incorporated in London in the 1920’s. They prospered here and quickly overtook the German parent company. Production was transferred to Dundee after the war. The ‘Park Lane’ was one of a range of vanity items produced between 1934 – 1939, the Park Lane commenced production in 1937 and was patented in 1938.
Date: 1937-1939
Condition: Excellent condition, but not quite perfect. The case has clearly had little if any use and has probably remained in its cover for most of the last 80 years. Internally the cigarette side is perfect and has never had a match struck on it. In the compact side, the powder pads are both present as is the comb, but the lipstick is absent. The mirror has a crack on the top and side edge deterioration.
