W. M. Frazer, 1864-1961
ANTIQUE OIL ON CANVAS by W.M. Frazer R.S.A
A beautiful oil painting of a seascape signed by the Scottish artist William Miller Frazer R.S.A. (1864 to 1961), who was born in Scone, Perthshire. It is 24 x 16 inches. The scene is probably in Scotland, and after researching his other paintings, looks like it could be Machrihanish, a place he frequently depicted. This painting is fresh to the market and will be of interest to collectors of Frazer’s work and art galleries specialising in Scottish art. I have checked this painting against others that have sold by auction and it does not appear in any lists, which is very exciting!
The work does, however, require some restoration as it has been in storage in a cellar for many years, therefore the asking price reflects this. Once restored it would be worth considerably more – some of the artist’s works have fetched up to £9,000. Here is a link to past auction prices realised: Auction sale prices for W.M. Frazer RSA
