ANTIQUE BRASS COAL BUCKET
A particularly fine and elegant antique 19th Century brass coal lidded coal bucket in the Regency manner. Originally designed as a coal bucket, it may now be more practical as a kindling bin or could even be used as a wine bucket.
Beautifully designed with four slim scrolling legs with stiff-leaf detail, joined by a circular beaded brace on elegant claw feet. The upper body has two panels framed with beading either side of heavily cast drop oval ring handles with foliate mounts. The plain lid terminates in a foliate boss and finial handle.
This sensational top quality piece is very well made with heavy gauge brass. It weighs around 6kg.
Date: Circa mid 19th Century in the early 19th Century Regency style.
Condition. Very good functional condition. The bucket / bin has been cleaned with just a little tarnish left in the crevices and details. The body has numerous little shovel dings which you often find on coal bins, but no large dents. The body is structurally sound, rock solid construction with no loose components. The lid finial is bent which can be seen in the last image.
