A silver plated dessert cutlery set in a book-box comprising of one fork, one spoon & a napkin ring.
The cutlery is engraved on the underside allowing for attractive display in the box.
The maker is Parkin & Marshall. The firm was active at Telegraph Works, 23 Furnival Street, Sylvester Street and Milton Street, Sheffield. The firm started electroplating in 1861.
The box is made in the manner of a book which has tooled front and back covers and page effect edges.
Date: Late Victorian.
Condition:
Flatware: The cutlery is near perfect, obviously having barely been used. The cartouches are blank for engraving. A piece may be missing as there is a long indent beside the napkin ring.
Box: Fair to poor condition, having been previously separated along the spine hinge but currently crudely stuck with tape which could be repaired with some fabric.
