E.W. Wyon
A very decorative pair of gilt plaster plaques by E.W Wyon.
This pretty pair of roundels have been finished in gilt and are displayed in good antique gilt frames with faded gold velvet mounts.
The plaque with two childen is inscribed: Sir T. Lawrence Des’t – E.W Wyon Sculp’t 1st June 1848.
The plaque with three children is inscribed: Art after Sir Joshua Reynolds by E.W Wyon Published 1849.
Date: mid 19th Century.
Condition: Ready to hang condition. The gilt frames of good colour have a nice aged appearance and although having some splits in the wood, are still structurally stable. The velvet is original and faded to an expected level. A few spots of dark base coat material are showing through the gilt finish to each plaque. The backing paper to the frames has been opened at some point, although not recently, potentially to refinish the gilding.
