SCOTTISH SILVER PLATED SALVER
A large late Victorian silver plated tray / salver of good heavy gauge by Hamilton & Inches. Of elaborate design with rococo foliate engraved detail and scalloped rim. The salver has a vacant cartouche (free of engraving) and stands upon three feet. The makers mark can be found on the rear.
The company was founded by Sir Robert Inches and his uncle James Hamilton in 1866; their showroom and headquarters are on George Street, Edinburgh. The company holds a Royal warrant as Silversmiths and Clock Specialists to her Majesty The Queen.
Date: late 19th Century.
Condition: Fair functional condition. The salver has some plate loss, more noticeable on the underside, in particular the rim where some brass is exposed.
