VINTAGE BI-METAL JARDINIERE ~ £160
An unusual and probably one-off brass and copper jardiniere.
Of heavy (3.175kg) and sturdy construction, this planter has twin wall sides of pressed brass sheet in an attractive bonded brick or tile design. The ends are tapering and bow fronted copper sheet with a band of brass at the top. The four peg feet are attached to a thick brass base plate for extra rigidity and the brass has contrasting copper rivets. The flanges of the copper end plates are screwed to the side of the body.
Designed in an antique style, this vintage jardiniere probably dates to the mid 20th Century and was almost certainly made as a one-off piece by a competent metal worker; it does not have the feel of a mass produced item.
Date: Mid 20th Century.
Condition. Good functional condition. Not recently cleaned but there is old cleaning residue in the brick joints. There are tarnish spots and marks and a few small dings. It has been lacquered. A miniature felt pad has been added to one foot to rectify a slight wobble.
