VINTAGE FRENCH STONEWARE CONFIT POT – LARGE
A large vintage rustic French stoneware grease / confit pot, also known as a rillette pot. It weighs over 1.9 kg. This type of stoneware is known as sandstone in France, and the pots were used to slow cook duck and rabbit in fat then preserved by a layer of solid fat on the top – a type of potted meat.
Fantastic addition for your French decor, and also great for use as utensil holders, vases and planters.
Condition: Good. Rustic, couple small old chips to the base. Aged patina.
