RUSSIAN VINTAGE ALLOY PROMOTIONAL DESK PLAQUE.
A very unusual double sided chromed alloy badge / mascot / plaque / decorative mount, featuring a double-headed eagle with a bull head coat of arms. The eagle is perched upon a stylised anvil.
The anvil has strong symbolic connection with Russia, indicating engineering might and prowess. The bull head also indicates strength.
Probably made as a promotional desk item for a machine manufacturer, this double sided alloy logo would have originally been bolted to a plinth or base which may have had the supplying company’s details cast or engraved on it.
Being chromed alloy, I doubt this would have been bolted to a metalworking machine.
The base has two fixing bolts for attachment to a base stand.
Date: vintage – mid to late 20th Century.
Condition: Fair condition. The chrome or nickel plating has deteriorated. Tarnish remnants in the crevices. Original mounting base absent.
